10-1421-I was just at the dollar store on County Road E in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. I left the store without the items I wanted and this is the reason why: A young black woman employee was checking out the customer in front of me and she was just about finished when I said excuse me, do I need to put all the rolls of tape on the counter or just one.
She blew me off by telling me Im waiting on another customer and she wasnt very kind about it. I said OK thats fine but I wondered why she reacted so rudely to me. When it came time for me to check out my items, I asked her in a very nice fashion, could you not pack them too heavily. She handed me one of the bags that was heavily loaded after I told her it was too heavy.
She then tossed another bag on the counter: Indicating that I should fill the bag myself. She mumbled some words to me which I couldnt make out..c. I she was clearly irritated with my request. I asked her if she could fill the bags because my hands were hurting terribly and she said no and continued scanning the items I planned to purchase.
The lack of customer support and the degree of rudeness on her part was really uncalled for. I asked her if she could continue checking me out and she said no she wasnt going to do it and that I should leave the store . A very large man waiting in line after me started yelling at me and swearing and I asked him not to use those kinds of words and he told me that I shouldnt be using the kind of words that I had said. I did not understand why he was getting involved when all I did was ask her to kindly put the items in two bags for me.
Before I knew it all *** was breaking loose and the assistant manager was called, then the manager was called and he said did anyone witness this and of course the large man behind me said I was in the wrong. I got so frustrated, I took the bags that she had already filled before the kerfuffle, and just pushed them off the counter Never intending to push them towards her. All I did was ask her to be kind enough to put the three heavy items in two bags and this is what ensued! I was told by the manager to never enter that store again.
I cant help but wonder if Id been black if I wouldve been treated the same way. She was clearly in the wrong and her boss backed her up because the large white guy behind me began making accusations. Honestly I hope to never go back into that store again because if thats the kind of employee that is being hired at the family dollar store family tree or whatever moniker you use, then I regard this store is a travesty to our neighborhood. Ive been shopping there for years and have spent thousands of dollars at that store and it appears to me there is a new manager on duty Who in my opinion, is not qualified to run a store that is free of hatred, bias and is unapologetically treating customers differently because of the color of their skin.
I plan to follow up with this complaint as I was treated so horribly, it makes me very sad. Thank you

Preferred solution: APOLOGY AND THAT EMPLOYEE REPRIMANDED AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT REPRIMAND WAS METTED OUT! In my opinion, she used her job as a reason to treat me differently because I am white!! It’s too bad that race is a part of this situation!!

It has been difficult to speak with anyone about this matter. I feel the manger and assistant manager on duty that day really just slept this matter under the rug and dismissed my anger. An apology or some kind of compensation for the associate rudeness would have been...
I told her I would not because I was already standing here and her light is on. After I asked for the Manager, an assistant came over to tell the young lady to finished checking me out then she could leave. The associate told her that she had told me to go to another line. I stated young lady you are still working as long as your light is on and are standing behind this register.
She stated to me, *** I AM CLOSED.
I have never been so embarrassed and humiliated in all my life. I want stop until something is done because, I should not have been talked to like that just because I wanted to be checked out with my items.

Complaint against employee
I went in the store on Saturday 1/29/22,located on 27 avenue nw 183 street. There was one cashier opened and one line with about 15 to 20 people waiting.
Her name is Deborah very rude, no customer service, nasty attitude told me that I was not the next person in the line .I saw the manager opening up the register for customers and I got in the line. Her job is ring up customers items not monitoring who was last in line. She need training on how to deal and talk to customers. I ask her who died and made her the CEO of Dollar Tree.
This is not my first time dealing with her being rude and disrespectful. Another time she rung up my items and stated I know youre paying with a $20.00 and I dont have changed. I told her isnt not my fault you dont have change in the register go and call your manager. But she gave me change from my $20.00.
She should not be working in a store when she cant handle the public. Very rude nasty employee.
